Spider Lace There was a girl who had always adored her aunt’s lace. So one day her aunt asked her if she had heard the story of the spider who had made the finest lace in Africa. She said no, so her aunt began, “Long long ago, there was a king and he had the lovliest daughter whom anyone in Africa had ever seen. The king announced one day that the man who brought forth the greatest gift should have his daughter’ s hands. There was a boy named Matt and he fell in love with her with just one look. But he could never afford anything so great as the king wanted. One day Matt went to get water from the stream. When arrived he found a spider being washed away and he quickly scooped the spider up and placed it gently on the ground. The spider thanked Matt for saving his life and asked what he wanted in return. Matt asked the spider for a gift to fit a princess. The next day Matt went to see the spider and what he had made the gift. It was the finest laces he had ever seen. He brought it to the king and finally married the beautiful princess. Thanks to the spider. ’’ |
