迈克尔一生都住在沙漠地区。那天他要去拜访一个朋友。此前他从未见过火车和火车下的铁轨。一天,他站在铁轨中间时,他听见“呜——呼哒呼哒"的汽笛声,但不知道这是什么声音。
可想而知,迈克尔被撞了,但是只是被火车掠过带倒而已。他倒在了铁轨边上,摔了个嘴啃泥,受了轻微的内伤,几处骨折,几处淤伤。
经过医院治疗,几周后他康复了。一天傍晚,迈克尔参加了朋友家举行的一个聚会。他在厨房里听见茶壶“呜一呼噜呼噜”地响了起来,便抄起离他最近的一个棒球棒,对着茶壶连续猛击。茶壶被砸得面目全非,看不出壶形。
迈克尔的朋友听到了嘈杂声,冲进厨房看看究竟是怎么回事。见状,他问这位沙漠来客:"这么好的茶壶你为什么把它砸扁了?"
迈克尔答道:“朋友,你必须防患于未然。"

Killing These Things When They’re Small
Micheal had spent his whole life in the desert comes to visit a friend. He’d never seen a train or the tracks they run on. While standing in the middle of the tracks one day, he heard this whistle—Whooee da Whoee——but he didn't know what it was.

After weeks in the hospital recovering,he was at tling. He grabbed a baseball bat from the nearby clos¬et and started to batter and bash the tea kettle into an unrecognizable lump of metal.
His friend, hearing the ruckus, rushed into the kitchen, saw what happened and asked the desert man, “Why'd you ruin my good tea kettle?”
Micheal replied, “Man,you have to kill these things when they’re small.
