从前，骆驼原本长着两只长耳朵，不像现在的这副模样。而兔子呢，却只有两只很短的小耳朵。 有一次，骆驼偷听了人类的秘密。人类知道后就向上帝告状，结果上帝作出判决，让人类用刀子把骆驼的长耳朵割掉。从此以后，胳驼的耳朵就只有像现在的这么小了。 说也凑巧，兔子当时正在和乌龟赛跑，而在半路上遇见了骆驼。兔子想：“要是赢了乌龟，世界上所有的动物都会知道我的大名。” 为了方便大家辨别，兔子就把骆驼被割下来的长耳朵装在自己的头上，好让众人晓得，贏了乌龟的不是一般的兔子，而是那只长着长耳朵的兔子。 但是比赛的结果，兔子却意外地输了，长耳朵反而变成了失败的标志。从此，兔子的长耳朵就这样一直沿传下去。 The Rabbit’s Long Ears Long, long ago, the camel had long ears while the rabbit had two little ones. The camel once peeped into a human secret. The humans complained to God in heaven and God decided to punish the camel by trimming his ears. The rabbit happened to be racing with the tortoise. On his way he met the camel whose two big ears had been trimmed. The rabbit thought, “If I were to win this race, the animal society all over the whole world will know my name.” He decided to fix the two cut-off ears of the camel on his head, so that everyone would know that the one who won the race was not an ordinary rabbit, but a rabbit with long ears. However, the rabbit did not win and his big ears became a mark of failure. Since then, the rabbit always has two long ears. |
