从前有一个坏国王，他遭到了所有人民的痛恨。一年夏季的某一天，他独自一人在河里游泳。 国王很会游泳，可是当游到河中间时，他突然感觉很不舒服。他大声呼叫: “救命呀！救命!”当时两位农民正在附近劳动，他们跑过去，跳到水中把他救了上来，直到他被拖出水面他们才知道他就是国王。 国王非常高兴，于是他对这两位农民说:“你们救了我的命，现在你们可以向我要任何东西，我都会给你们。” 一位农民说:“我儿子上周把腿摔断了，现在他还不能正常走路，请帮他找一 位好医生。” 国王答应了。然后他又问另一位农民，“你要我做什么，老人?” 这位农民年纪老了，也很聪明。 这位老人想了一会儿，然后回答说：“你可以为我做一件非常重要的事。” “什么事？”国王问道。他以为这位老人会向他要钱，或者要求给自己的儿子找一份好的工作。 “请不要告诉任何人是我们救了你的命。”这位老农回答说。 Don’t Tell Anybody That We Have Saved You There was once a bad king. He was hated by all his people. One day in a summer he was swimming by himself in a river. The king was a good swimmer, but while he was in the middle of the river, he suddenly fell ill. He cried out，“Help! Help!”At that time two farmers were working nearby. They ran over，jumped into the water and saved him. They didn't know that he was the king until he was pulled out of the water. The king was happy,so he said to the farmers,“ You’re saved my life. Now you may ask for anything,and I’ll give them to you. ” One of the farmers said，“ My son broke his leg last week，and he still can’t walk well，please send him to a good doctor. The king promised to do so. Then he spoke to the other farmer, who was old and wise,w And what can I do for you,old man?” The old man thought for some minutes and then he answered，“ You can do a very important thing for me. “What is that?”asked the king. He thought that the old man would ask for some money, or a good job for his son. “Don’t tell anybody that we have saved you,’’the old farmer answered. |
