Thank You Years ago, when I was a college student, Prof. Smith gave us a speech entitled “Powerful Phrases”. These were very simple but powerful phrases that we all liked to hear, such as“I’m proud of you.,,‘‘I believe in you.,,“I trust you.,’“I love you.”“You can do it.”At that time, with Thanksgiving Day approaching, we were focused on other powerful phrases, in particular,44 Thank you. ’, We could never wear out that phrase. It should always be on the tip of our tongue if we are grateful to others who help us each day.,’Prof. Smith told us. Despite God,s abundant blessings, we are often too slow to give thanks but so quick in complaining. Maybe we are so concentrated on ourselves and so busy with our lives that we forget to give thanks. Or maybe ifs because some of us have become complacent with a level of luxury and leisure beyond the imagination of much of the world’s population. We tend to take our blessings for granted, like the story about a homeowner who hired a real-estate agent to prepare an advertisement to sell his home for a better one. After the homeowner read the ad in newspaper about many attractive features of his home, he called the real estate agent saying that he no longer wished to sell it. When asked what changed his mind, the homeowner said,“ After reading your ad,I realized I have already lived in the house I had always dreamed of. |
