在纽约12月寒冷的一天，一个大约十岁的小男孩光着脚站在百老汇的一家鞋店门前,透过玻璃盯着里面的鞋子。他站在寒风中瑟瑟发抖。一个妇女走过来跟他说:“小家伙，你在看什么看得那么入迷?” “我在乞求上帝给我一双鞋子。”小男孩回答道。 这位妇人拉着他的手走进了店里，让商店的服务员给这个小男孩拿了半打袜子。然后她又问店员是否能打一盆水，取一条毛巾过来。店员很快把东西拿来了。这位妇人把小男孩带到商店柜台的后面，去下手套,半跪着给小男孩洗脚，然后用毛巾擦干。 这个时候，那位店员拿着袜子过来了。妇人给他穿好袜子，接着向店员买了 一双鞋子，把剩下的袜子扎好递给小男孩。她拍了拍男孩的头说道:“小家伙,你现在一定是感觉到舒服多了吧?” 当她转身要离开时,这个惊讶的小男孩拉住了她的手，两眼含着热泪抬头看着她,问道:“你是上帝的妻子吗?” Are You God’s Wife New York City：I’vs a cold day in December. A little boy of about 10-year-old was standing before a shoe store on Broadway，barefooted，peering through the window，and shivering with cold. A lady approached the boy and said，“My little fellow，why are you looking so earnestly in that window?” “I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,” was the boy’s reply. The lady took him by the hand and went into the store,and asked the clerk to get a half dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her. She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with a towel. By this time the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy feet, she then purchased him a pair of shoes, and tying up the remaining pairs of socks,gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said，“No doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now?” As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand, and looking up in her face，with tears in his eyes，answered the question with these words，“ Are you God’s wife?” |
