As she was putting it back into its container, the snake slithered loose. Everyone began to scream and run around while the teacher tired to catch the escaper. To restore order, I told the children to get into their seats, but one little girl repeatedly refused my orders. Exasperated, I sternly asked her one final time to return to her seat. She turned to me and politely said, “I can’t, Miss Bowdoin. You’ re standing in my seat.” |
