一位哲学教授站在讲台上，面前放了一些器具。开始上课了，她一句话不说，而是拿着一个很大的装蛋黄酱的空罐子，不断向里面放石块，直到装满了罐子，然后问学生：罐子填满了吗？学生们都说满了。然后教授又拿起一盒小鹅卵石倒进了罐子里，轻轻摇了摇，当然这样鹅卵石就会滚到石块间的空隙里。之后，她又问学生满了没有，大家又都说满了。 教授拿起一盒沙子倒进了罐中，沙子填满了所有的空隙。这时，教授说，“我想让你们认识到这就是人生。石块是重要的事情——家庭、伴侣、健康、子女。如果人生中只剩下这些，你的人生仍然是充实的。小鹅卵石是其他方面，比如工作、房子、车。沙子是余下的事情,一些琐事。如果你先把沙子放进罐子里，就没有地方放石块或鹅卵石了。人生也是如此，如果你在小事上花费了所有时间和精力，就容不下其他重要的事情了。” 把精力集中放在关乎幸福的重要事情上。和儿女玩耍，抽时间进行健康检查，和伴侣出去跳舞。工作、打扫房间、举行晚宴、制定计划安排，这些总会有时间去做的。首先关心那些石块——那是最重要的东西。分清主要的事情，余下的只是沙子。 这时教授和其他同学都认为罐子已经满了，然而……一个学生上前拿过了那个罐子，那个学生又向罐中倒了一杯啤酒。这次啤酒注满了罐中剩余的空间，罐子真的满了。这则故事的寓意是:无论你的生活安排得多满，总还能盛下啤酒。 There Is Still Room for Beer A philosophy professor stood before her class and had some items in front of her. When the class began, silently she picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks. She then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. She shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. She then asked the students again if the jar was full. They again agreed it was. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. "Now, said the professor, " I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things — your family, your partner, your health, your children — things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.” Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical check-ups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. Take care of the rocks first — the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. But then... A student then took the jar which the other students and the professor agreed was full, and proceeded to pour in a glass of beer. Of course the beer filled the remaining spaces within the jar making the jar truly full. The moral of this tale is that no matter how full your life is, there is always room for BEER. |
