很久很久以前，蝙蝠本来是一只没有翅膀的小动物。有一天，造物主对他说：“今年年内的某一天，动物们将举行一场比赛，到时你要参加。” 不久，比赛日期到了。动物们决定分成两组比赛:一组是没长翅膀的动物，另一组是长翅膀的鸟类。蝙蝠没有翅膀，要加入没翅膀的动物这一组。他走过去问动物们能不能让他加入，但是动物们都嫌他长得太小了。大家都笑话他，拿他打趣儿，并齐声说：“你不能加入我们这组。” 于是,蝙蝠就去了鸟类那里，请求加入他们那组参加比赛。但是，因为他没有翅膀，鸟儿们就说："你没长翅膀，怎么跟我们一起玩呢？比赛规则是你必须得有翅膀才能加入我们这一组。"他们正商量着，一只鸟说道："我们想想办法，看能不能帮帮他。"他们环顾四周，忽然，看到了一架印第安人扔掉的破鼓，鼓皮还在。鸟儿们就取下鼓皮为蝙蝠制作翅膀。然后，他们给蝙蝠披上翅膀，并亲自作飞行示范，教他飞翔。 但是，蝙蝠是个新手，不知道怎样飞。于是鸟儿们就把他带到树顶，然后突然松开他，他就在空中胡乱舞动着双爪儿。他做不到直线飞行，而是在空中忽左忽右、忽上忽下，乱飞乱撞。‘‘这，”他上气不接下气地说，“这，我就能飞成这样了。" 鸟儿们说：“唉，比赛日期已经很近了，我们来不及教你怎样直飞了。”于是回去后就让蝙蝠加入他们一组。比赛进行到关键时刻，我们假定当时是第四轮，也就是最后一轮的时候，没翅膀的动物和鸟儿们赛成了平局，比赛进入僵持阶段。这时候，鸟儿们决定让蝙蝠上场。 蝙蝠上场拿球，他就那样在空中胡乱舞动着双爪儿，忽左忽右、忽上忽下，乱飞乱撞。动物们看傻了眼，对他毫无办法。终于,蝙蝠打入了制胜一球，应该说是为鸟类这一组打入了制胜一球。比赛结束后，动物们纷纷议论： "我们遇到的那个超级球星是谁？他到我们身边的时候，我们压根儿就碰不到他。我们对他打入的制胜一球真是毫无办法。” 知道是蝙蝠进的球后，他们不知道该如何是好。因为他们嘲笑过他，使得他离开他们这一组去了鸟类那一组,为鸟队效力。 这则故事的寓意是你不能嘲笑任何人，不管他们长有多大或生有多小，或者他们能做什么。你应当尊重任何人并给予他们同等的参与机会，因为每个人自有其个性、特质和长处。正如我所说的，这则故事的寓意是要尊重别人，这就是给大家讲“蝙蝠翅膀的由来”这则故事的原因。 How the Bat Got Its Wings A long time ago, the bat was a little creature who didn’t have any wings, but the Creator said, “One day out of the year, you will have a game — all the animals will have a game.，’ So it was decided that they would choose up into two teams ： one were the animals who didn't have wings, and one was the birds, who had wings. We can’t teach you how to fly straight.” So they went back and put him in. So as far as the game was played—let’s say like in the fourth quarter, the animals were tied with the birds. So, at that time, they decided to put the bat in there. And the bat went and got the ball，and he was going like—like this all over waving hands. And there was no way they could touch him. So, he scored the winning touchdown — we could say — for the birds. So, when the game was over, the animals said, ''Who was that superstar that you all had that came and we couldn't touch him? There was no way we could stop him from scoring the winning goal.” When they came to find out it was the bat, they didn’t know what to do, because they had made fun of him, and he had gone out of his way to go and play for the birds. But the moral of this story is that you can’t make fun of anybody, no matter what size they are or how big they are or what they can do. You have to respect whoever they are for what they are and make sure that you give them the chance to participate. And the moral, like I said, is to respect people, and that is how we are told the bat story-how the bat got its wings. |
