The Wall of Indians The climate in the desert is very special. In the daytime, after the gravel’s reflection and the accumulation of heat, the fiery red sun can bake people to death; at night, the wilderness and desolation spreading with nothing covered can freeze people to death. Although the desert climate is so terrible, American Indians still can live in there quite comfortably because their buildings have the function of turning ill luck to good. In the desert, the wall of Indians is specially designed. Its thickness is just right—the heat of the sun cannot pass through the wall during the day, and when ifs time for passing, the night has fallen. So in the night, while it is bitter cold in the outside, that hot wall slowly gives out the heat gained in the daytime, making the room warm. If the wall is thin, the room will become an oven in the daytime, and even at night, it will not send out enough heat. But if the wall is thick, though not hot in the daytime, it will become cold at night because the heat can’t pass throught it. All the secret lies in the wall neither thick nor thin. Whether or not living in the desert, each of us has such a wall—reserve people’s praise for the frustrated time, get the arrows shot from the enemy as our weapon at the shortage of arms, turn the attacking words from others into useful suggestions, leave the surplus money that can only cause crime to the possible poverty in future, just as the Indians leave the scorching sunlight to the cold night. reflection
