中英文对照：宝库 翻开书页，古往今来的人类结晶，千百年来人们津津乐道的故事，我们都可以从书中获得，而且花费不多。但是我们必须知道如何利用这个宝库，如何从中获取尽可能多的知识。世界上最不幸的人莫过于那些从未发现读好书是多么令人幸福的人。 我对人物非常感兴趣，乐于结识并了解他们。我遇到的一些杰出人物起初只存在于作者的想象之中，然后作者把他们写进书中，由此他们又进入了我的想象。在书中我找到了新的朋友，新的社会，新的话语。 stories that have delighted mankind for centuries, of us in the covers of books. But we must know how to avail ourselves of this treasure and how to get the most from it. The most unfortu¬nate people all over the world are those who have never discovered how satisfying it is to read good books. I am interested in people, in meeting them and finding out about them. Some of the most remarkable people I have met only existed in a writer’s imagination, then on the pages of his book, and then again, in my imagination. I have found in books new friends, new societies, and new words. |
