He took a large cardboard box out of the back of the car and carried it to her front door. Then he put the box down and rang the bell. But.” The man continued his sales talk without paying any attention to what she said. “You may say that you have plenty of time，but there is more to life than sweeping the floor. ” The young man opened the cardboard box and took out a vacuum cleaner. • “With this machine, you can clean your house in c fraction of the time,”he said. “Well，yes, but.” Mrs. Fang began，but the young man interrupted her again “I will demonstrate,”he said，and before she could stop him he walked into the house. He put the cardboard box on the floor and took out a huge bag. He opened the bag and poured a horrible mixture of dirt all over the floor. “Please，you mustn’t”Mrs. Fang protested, but the young man did not listen. “Don’t worry,”he said, as he stamped the dirt into the carpet with his foot and then spread it all over the carpet. “This machine will clean it away in seconds. This is the finest vacuum cleaner in the world. ” He smiled at Mrs. Fang. “If you'll just show me where the outlet is,”he said，“1 11 plug it in and begin the demonstration. ” “But I’ve been trying to tell you,”the old lady said, “There isn’t any electricity in this cottage!” |
