从前有一个国王诏令天下，如果谁能画一幅最能表现宁静的画，谁就能得到国王的奖赏。很多曲家都送来了他们的画。国王看后，只有两幅合他的心意。他得在这两幅画中选一幅。 其中一幅画的是一个平静的湖泊。湖面宛若平镜一般,幽静的群山巍峨耸立，倒映其中。湖面上方，碧蓝的天空中朵朵棉花般的白云悠然地飘着。无论谁看了这幅画，都觉得它完美地体现了宁静的含义。 另一幅画中也有群山，但这些山却突兀不平。群山上空，电闪雷鸣，暴雨倾盆。山上的瀑布倾泻而下。这些看上去似乎跟宁静毫无关系。 但是当国王凑近再仔细一看，发现在瀑布后面的岩石缝里长着一小丛灌木。灌木丛中，鸟妈妈建了一个巢。在急促的水流映衬下，坐在巢中的鸟妈妈让人感觉到了无限的宁静。 哪幅画会获奖？国王选择了第二幅。知道为什么吗？ "因为，国王说，"宁静并不是指一个没有噪音，没有烦恼，不需要辛苦劳作的地方。真正的宁静是指在这众多的纷扰中仍然抱持一颗平常心。这才是宁静的真谛。 The Real Meaning of Peace There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them. One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace. The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all. But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest — in perfect peace. Which picture do you think won the prize? The king chose the second picture. Do you know why? "Because,” explained the king, " peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace. |
