Look Before You leap A group of monkeys are collecting walnuts at the foot of a hill. A fox walks by and exclaims, “Alas, why are you collecting walnuts here?” The monkeys raise their heads, feeling puzzled. “The walnuts on the hill are much bigger. And the higher you climb, the bigger they are!” the fox shouts, “You are so stupid that you even don,t know such a little thing.” Having heard this, the monkeys all cast off the walnuts in their hands and rush towards the top of the hill. They all vie with each other in climbing up the hill, eager to pick up the biggest ones. On reaching the top, they find there are no small walnuts at all, not to mention the big ones. The walnuts have all rolled down to the foot of the hill. Sitting on the hilltop, out of breath, the monkeys just watch the fox down there goes away with a huge bag of walnuts on his back. walnut 核桃 cast off 抛弃;摆脱 |
