一位少年去拜访一位年长的智者。
他问智者:“我怎么才能成为一个既让自己愉快,也让别人愉快的人呢? •’
智者看着他说:“孩子,在你这个年龄有这样的愿望,已经很难得了。我送你四句话 第一句话是,把自己当成别人。你能说说这句话的含义吗? ”
少年回答说:“意思是,在我感到痛苦时,就把自己当成别人,这样痛苦就自然减轻了; 当我欣喜若狂时,把自己当成别人,那种狂喜也会变得平和。”
智者微微点头,接着说:“第二句话,把别人当成自己。”
少年沉思一会儿,说:“这样就可以真正同情别人的不幸,理解别人的需求,在别人需要时给予恰当的帮助。”
智者两眼发光,继续说道:“第三句话,把别人当成别人。”
少年说:“这句话是说,要充分尊重每个人的独立性,在任何情况下都不可侵犯他人的核心领地。”

The Youngster and the Wise Man
A youngster went to visit an old wise man.
He asked the wise man, “How can I become a person who can make myself nd others happy?”
The wise man looked at him and said, “My son, you’re one in a thousand to live such an aspiration at this age. I give you four sentences. The first sentence
is to regard you as others. Can you explain its meaning?”
The youngster replied, “That is to say, when I feel distressed, regard myself as others, so that I will reduce the distress naturally; when I’m ecstatic, regard myself as others, the ecstasy will become placid.”
The wise man nodded slightly and went on, “The second is to regard others as you.”
